Catherine Popesco inspired jewelry with REAL Swarovski Crystals

Who doesn't love a deal right? I recently found that I can make my very own Swarovski Crystal jewelry for so much less than the stuff with the CP label on it! Thank you Etsy! Bracelets range from $40-$60 depending on stone size. I will be posting a variety of bracelets, necklaces, and earrings in my etsy store as I make them :) (also in my etsy store will be some of my other craft projects!!)

DIY Pottery Barn inspired Clock

Pottery Barn

The moment I saw this wall clock I knew I had to have it. But who can afford everything in the Pottery Barn catalog? Not many of us! So I did a little digging and found all the stuff to make my own!

Here is what you will need:

24" Round piece of solid wood

White spray paint

Modge podge

Tissue paper
(2-3 pieces depending on size of your clock, color does not matter)

Brown acrylic paint

Sock or Cheese cloth

Any beads for numbers

Printed Roman Numerals
(I used Microsoft Word and cut them out :)

1. First I started out with a 24" round piece of wood (about 1/2" thick). I ordered it from Craft Cuts. Took about a week to get to me!

2. Next, time for tissue paper! All I had was some left over pink tissue paper so no worries if yours is colored. Apply your modge podge to your wood and apply tissue paper. The more wrinkled the better so don't try to make it smooth! That gives it the vintage look :)

3. I then layed out a drop cloth in my garage and sprayed paint the entire thing white. Took me one small can of craft paint from Wal-Mart. No particular brand. Allow to dry before moving on!

4. Now is the fun part! Mix modge podge and a small amount of brown paint (any shade will do, mine was pretty dark). I used Americana acrylic paint. MIx maybe 1 tbsp of modge podge to a couple of drops of brown paint. Play around with it! I took my sock and dipped it into the mixture, like I would a stain, and applied it over the white spray paint. This really brings out the crinkle in the tissue paper and give the distressed look! I just used a small amount in places all over and rubbed it out til I got the desired distressed look.

5. After your second modge podge layer is dry, apply your beads using a hot glue gun along the edge where your numbers will be. Then, cut out your Roman Numerals and glue them ( I used a glue stick )  directly below your beads! Mine was strictly for decor so I didn't apply clock hands but you can if you choose to do so!

And, here is my final result!!!.....
